Das im zauberhaften Rahmen eines kleinen venezianischen Hofes eingebettete Hotel Ateneo, das in einer ruhigen Gasse inmitten der magischen Altstadt Venedigs liegt, enthüllt sich ganz unerwartet dem Blick des Besuchers.
Es ist ein antikes Gebäude, das einst Wohnsitz namhafter Familien von Kaufleuten war und 1959 von der adeligen Familie Sereni in ein Hotel umgewandelt wurde. Es weist die für die damalige Epoche typischen 4 Etagen auf und blickt auf den nur Gondeln vorbehaltenen, zauberhaften Kanal „dei barcaioli“.
Das Hotel Ateneo hat dank der Gesamtrenovierung im Jahre 2002 nichts vom Charme einer typisch venezianischen Residenz aus dem XVII. Jahrhundert eingebüßt.
Die den venezianischen Charakter dieses Gebäudes kennzeichnenden, architektonischen Elemente, die Stoffe und Damaste der Zimmer, die Einrichtung im typischen Stil des siebzehnten Jahrhunderts und die modernen Komforts zaubern auch in den Hotelzimmern die magische Atmsphäre Venedigs herbei.
Das Hotel verfügt über 20 im venezianischen Stil elegant eingerichtete Zimmer mit Bad (Badewanne oder Dusche), Safe, Klimaanlage, Satellitenfernseher, Telefon, Haartrockner, Minibar mit Drinks und Snacks, einen kabellosen Internetanschluss im ganzen Hotel und im Café einen PC mit kostenloser Internetverbindung, einen Wäsche-, Druck und Faxservice sowie Ausflüge zu den Inseln.
Ein privater Anlegeplatz für Gondeln und Wassertaxis und ein wunderschöner Salon im zweiten Stock mit Blick auf den Canale, die Scala Contarini oder del Bovolo und das große Opernhaus „La Fenice“.
