General Information
Situated in the heart of historic Lugo, the Hotel Ala D'Oro was once
the home of the noble Conti Rossi family, one of the most important aristocratic families in the town.
The building was constructed by Conte Giovanni Rossi in the first half of the 18th century .
On January 20th 1781 in this palace was born the Contessa Cornelia Rossi Martinetti, who hosted in her home one of the most important literary groups of the early 19th century; her guests included Giacomo Leopardi, Ugo Foscolo, Antonio Canova, Gioacchino Rossini, Vincenzo Monti, George Byron and many more. In 1952 the palace was converted in hotel. Since then, the Ala D'Oro has been managed with unstinting passion by the Nostri family, and over the years has undergone considerable modernisation and rebuilding.
The hotel offers 40 rooms on two floors, making a total of about 70 beds. Almost all the rooms give onto the quiet internal courtyard.
The rooms are of different sizes, due to its historical provenance; some are large enough to accommodate a family of four people in comfort. There is a spacious TV lounge, equipped with a giant screen, where the latest films and live sporting events can be watched in comfort. It is also available a free Internet point for our guest.
The bar, with its vaulted ceiling, is situated in the old kitchen of the palace.
The Restaurant is situated inside the hotel and it is open also to
local guests.Our commitment to quality and tradition means it is the local specialities for which the kitchen is known the best hand-made
pasta and the best home-made traditional desserts and puddings
resulting in our regular appearance in good-eating guides.
Our new function suite can easily hold up to 200 people.
