Riva del Garda-Madonna di Campiglio-Val di Non-Riva del Garda (190 km)
This itinerary takes you through some wonderful landscapes. Leave Riva del Garda by Route 421, and drive up to Tenno with its castle and a splendid turquoise-coloured lake; go down into the Conca del Lomaso, packed with little villages, as far as the spa resort town of Comano; visit Castel Scenico, a splendid medieval manor, and then go on to Tione. From here drive along the SS239 up thorugh Val Rendena until you reach Pinzolo and Carisolo (a deviation to Val Genova, with its beautiful waterfalls at Nardis, is highly recommended). Once you have reached Madonna di Campiglio, a ski resort in the Brenta Dolomites with breathtaking views, drive down into Val di Sole and then Val di Non, famous for its apples. When they are in bloom the orchards are a vision of incomparable beauty. Visit the hermitage of San Romedio, clinging to the rock face, and Lake Tovel. Continue on to Trento (SS42 and then SS12) and, from there, take the SS45 back to Riva del Garda.
