Italy - Information on Campoli Del Monte Taburno in the Provence of Benevento
The first well-grounded news about the origins of the village dates back to the Norman period. It is situated at the foot of Mount Taburno, plunged into a rich natural environment, primary source of its economy, mainly based on agriculture. Its enjoyable position makes it also a good starting point for walks up to the Mount Taburno (1393 m.) and the Mount Camposauro (1388 m.).
It was a feud of the Della Leonessa family, first, who received it from the Angevins in the 15th c. and then of the Carafa, the D’Avalos Aquino, the Caracciolo and the De Capua families; the latter owned it until the abolition of feudalism in 1806.
