About Apollosa
On the eastern slopes of the Mount Taburno, along the ancient Via Appia, the village of Apollosa stands.
It was first mentioned in some documents dated 1333, when it was destroyed during the battle between Rainulfo, the Duke of Avellino and Ruggero the Norman.
Subsequently it was a feud of the d’Aquino family and was then ceded to the Angevins.
Afterwards it belonged to the Della Leonessa family and finally to the Caracciolo family.
The unity of Italy incorporated Apollosa in the province of Benevento.
From the historical point of view, in 1439 Apollosa was where the battle between René of Anjou and Alhonse of Aragon and the consequent arsons and pillage took place.
