Tricerro - Vercelli in Piemonte
Tricerro liegt 5 km nördlich von Trino und verdankt seinen Namen der Tatsache, dass es im Mittelalter zum Wald von Lucedio gehörte, der für eine besondere Art von Eiche, der “cerro”, bekannt war. Der Ortskern des im Jahre 1218 gegründeten Dorfes war von rechteckiger Form, die im piemontesischen Barockstil erbaute Pfarrkirche Parrocchiale di S. Giorgio (Hl. Georg) mit hervorgehobenen Backsteinelementen befand sich aber außerhalb des Zentrums ganz im Norden. Deshalb wurde sie in der zweiten Hälfte des 16. Jahrhunderts in ihrer Funktion als Seelentrösterin von der neuen Kirche Chiesa di S. Giorgio am Hauptplatz des Städtchens abgelöst. Diese war mit den Überresten der Stadtmauern errichtet worden, wurde im Jahre 1747 zur Gänze neu aufgebaut und in der Folge mehrmals erneuert.
In Tricerro gibt es außerdem noch die Kirche Chiesa della confraternità di S. Rocco (Hl. Rochus - Beschützerfigur und Heiler der Pestkranken – die Stadt wurde ja im Jahre 1501 vom schwarzen Tod heimgesucht und forderte unzählige Opfer) und, etwas außerhalb des Wohngebietes, noch die Kirche S. Basilio.
