Information about Villarboit in the Province of Vercelli
Crossing the bridge on the Rovasenda stream it is possible to reach the village square, whose construction caused the demolishment of the ancient Romanic church. The imposing fifteenth hundred castle has an impressive cubic shape and its rectangular tower is decorated with 4 arcades from a more recent period. Furthermore, on the wall towards the square, it is possible to see the ancient swallow tailed merlons incorporated in the wall.
Nothing is left instead of the ancient church of Saint Mark, apart from the apse frescoes which are kept in the Museum Borgogna, and those of the parish from the sixteenth century, which are kept in the archiepiscopal seminar of Vercelli.
The parish of Saint Peter and Paul, consecrated in 1973, is modern and made of reinforced concrete. There is also an airy metal bell tower with three bells and a golden clock.
In the hamlet of Busonengo there is the church of Saint James.
